We are seeking an Automation Technician to join the team at the Port of Liverpool and help us keep the world moving!

Your Role

 

You will support the Containers Operation & Maintenance teams with timely and accurate automation assistance, whilst also being responsible for the co-ordination of the Container Maintenance team during failures of the automation systems, monitoring performance of the Container handling equipment and enabling an efficient and effective team.

 

You will complete planned and reactive maintenance in a safe manner, reporting defects whenever possible and any parts or material needs to the Engineering Shift Manager promptly. You will assist and collaborate with on shift maintenance and operations teams to increase the level of automation knowledge during breakdowns

 

Producing in-depth system analysis and improvement plans, you will support on continuous improvement projects as and when required, ensuring the reliability, availability and safe performance of equipment by timely delivery of preventative automation plan.

 

Upon completion of training this role will be working on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern

What you'll bring

 

You will have a strong engineering skillset, with an understanding of Electrical Circuit diagrams, network structures/switches and communication protocols.  You will have high technical Automation/Controls engineering ability and working knowledge of IEC 61131 programming languages. 

 

The ability to troubleshoot, fault find (within PLC code/HMIs) and repair is essential for this role, whilst previous experience of motors and variable speed controllers is desirable.

 

You will be qualified to a minimum HNC (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline and hold a full valid driving licence.
