Responsibilities
The Material Handling Operative role, within the Operations Department, will be responsible ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the Company’s plant and equipment. This is a multi-functional role with duties dependent upon experience and training.
Responsibilities will also include:
- Operating plant machinery including Material Handler Cranes, Skid Steer, 3-7t FLT and Payloaders.
- Thoroughly inspecting the Company’s plant and equipment, recording condition and possible damage.
- Conducting cleaning duties to ensure Company machinery and the working areas are kept tidy and clean, in line with Peel Ports’ Health and Safety standards.
- When fully trained, carrying out miscellaneous operational duties.
- Working in a physically demanding environment, including undertaking manual handling.
- Reporting any incidents, accident, dangerous occurrences and damages to the Bulk Operations Supervisor without delay.
Skills and Experience
- Knowledge and experience of operating Material Handler Cranes, Skid Steer, 3-7t FLT and Payloaders.
- Previous work experience within vessel discharge for Bulk goods would be considered an advantage.
- A positive and flexible approach to working hours, including nights and weekends.
- Commitment to maintaining Health and Safety standards, as well as demonstrating compliance to safety policies and procedures.
- Minimum of GCSE grade C or above in English and Mathematics, or equivalent qualification.
- A full valid driving licence is essential.
