Head of Engineering

 

Are you excited by the opportunity to lead engineering transformation in a critical UK terminal?  Our Humber Bulk Terminal is entering a pivotal phase of investment and change, with capex investment committed to deliver a clearly defined 3 year capital and maintenance plan.

 

We are seeking a highly capable Head of Engineering to lead and evolve our engineering function to help secure the long-term performance, safety and sustainability of the terminal.

Your Role

 

This is a significant leadership challenge and a genuinely rewarding opportunity for a dedicated engineering leader who thrives in complex operational environments, motivated by building strong teams, improving standards, delivering real change by driving a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

 

You will lead the engineering function across the entire terminal, ensuring all maintenance and engineering activities support a safe, reliable and efficient 24/7/365 operation.  You will play a central role in delivering the terminal’s investment programme, embedding modern maintenance practices and working collaboratively across operations and the wider business.

What You'll Bring

 

We are seeking a strong engineering leader with technical credibility and outstanding people leadership skills.  You will bring:

 

  • Extensive experience in engineering maintenance, infrastructure and facilities management;
  • A strong background in mechanical and electrical engineering (ideally both);
  • Proven leadership, team development and chance management experience;
  • A track record of leading successfully in unionised environments;
  • Detailed knowledge of modern maintenance techniques, including RCM, TPM, AM, CBM;
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation, IOSH Managing Safety is ideal;
  • Proven experience in budget development, management and cost control;
  • a recognised time served apprenticeship, Engineering Degree, HNC / ONC or apprentice trained with further learning.
