Logistics Manager

Your role

 

As the successful Logistics Manager, you will oversee the day‑to‑day running of Peel Ports Logistics, ensuring transport, warehouse and logistics activities are delivered safely, compliantly and in line with SLAs. You will coordinate resources, lead service recovery when issues arise and act as the nominated CPC holder, maintaining full compliance with DVSA and Operator Licence requirements.

 

In this role, you will provide strong team leadership, managing planners, operational leads and HGV drivers while promoting a positive safety culture. You will maintain accurate SOPs, drive continuous improvement, support financial performance through effective resource management and lead customer escalations, reviews and corrective actions to ensure service excellence.

What you'll bring

 

As the successful Logistics Manager you will have a solid professional foundation, including a CPC in Road Transport Operations, along with significant management experience gained in a fast‑paced logistics, transport or warehousing environment. You will have hands‑on experience leading operational teams, managing performance and ensuring compliance with Operator Licence requirements, DVSA standards and drivers’ hours legislation. You will have a proven ability to act as an escalation point, resolve customer issues and maintain high service standards.

 

You will have strong operational, analytical and leadership skills, with experience in transport planning, fleet management, warehouse operations and resource utilisation. You will have the ability to produce reports, analyse performance data, develop SOPs and drive continuous improvement. You will have confidence managing suppliers, identifying efficiencies, working flexibly and deputising for senior leadership when required, supported by strong IT proficiency and a full UK driving licence.
