Transport Planner

Would you like to be part of a fast‑paced logistics team where no two days are the same? Do you have a talent for organisation, problem‑solving and keeping operations running smoothly even when plans change? If you thrive in a role where communication, coordination and attention to detail truly matter, this opportunity with Peel Ports Logistics could be the perfect next step in your career.

Your role

In this role, you will organise and schedule PPL drivers, subcontractors and third‑party transport providers, ensuring customer expectations are met in terms of cost, time and service. You will coordinate inbound UK cargo, including containers, steel and bulk materials, from port or terminal through to final delivery, while supporting fleet planning and maintaining compliance.

You will manage daily transport schedules, source external hauliers when needed, and ensure all documentation and job entries are accurate. You will liaise with customers and terminals, oversee driver management and vehicle maintenance, support invoicing processes, and uphold Health & Safety standards, all while representing the company with professionalism and a proactive approach.

What you'll bring

The ideal candidate will bring excellent attention to detail, strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively while working under time pressure and towards challenging targets. You will be confident managing your own workload, fully PC‑literate with solid MS Office skills, and hold a Full UK Driving Licence. A working knowledge of Drivers Hours and Working Time Directive Regulations or OLAT awareness would be an advantage, along with any experience coordinating inbound UK cargo such as containers, steel or bulk movements within a port‑centric logistics environment.

You will also be someone who can support the wider Transport Team by participating in the weekend rota, providing occasional guidance or assistance by telephone. Currently operating on a 1‑in‑3 pattern, with plans to move to 1‑in‑4, this requires a reliable, proactive individual who is comfortable taking responsibility and maintaining high service standards at all times.
