Electrical Engineering Apprentice

Responsibilities

 

The Engineering role, within the Engineering Department, will work across the MTL Dublin Engineering Team gaining knowledge and experience of all equipment and technologies used within division.  You will gain knowledge and exposure from a structured Apprenticeship scheme, gaining qualifications to become a certified Engineer.

 

Responsibilities will also include:

 

- Whilst learning new skills via the appointed Training Provider, assist the Engineering team in all areas to provide and maintain the plant and equipment to a high standard.

- Assist in carrying our planned and preventative maintenance work on all plant and machinery, including heavy plant, cranes and process technology.

- Become multi-skilled and proficient in Mechanical / Electrical.

- Undertake NVQ and academic qualifications at the appointed partnering college and complete college work and progress sheets accurately.

- Adhere to Peel Ports’ Safe Systems of Work and promote a safe working culture across the business.

- Support Engineers when carrying out modifications to plant and equipment.

 

 

Skills and Experience

 

- Driven, self-motivated individual able to work independently and as part of a team with multiple functions across the business.

- Ongoing commitment to academic studies, enduring all deadlines for coursework are met and the required results achieved in order to progress through the apprenticeship.

- Minimum junior or leaving certificate (or equivalent), including Maths and Science or technical studies at a college.

- Able to work at heights and in confined spaces within challenging environments.

- Demonstrate commitment to maintaining Peel Ports Health and Safety standards.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
