Vacancy - Engineering Apprentice
Are you looking to start your career in engineering within a fast-paced port environment? Are you practical, motivated and excited by the opportunity to learn from experienced engineers while gaining recognised qualifications? We are seeking two Engineering Apprentices to join our team at MTL Dublin, with one Mechanical Engineering Apprentice vacancy and one Electrical Engineering Apprentice vacancy.
Your Role
As an Engineering Apprentice, you'll work alongside experienced engineers while completing a structured apprenticeship programme and working towards recognised engineering qualifications. You'll gain hands-on experience maintaining and repairing a wide range of equipment used across our busy port operation, including cranes, heavy plant and machinery
Working as part of a multi-skilled engineering team, you'll develop practical engineering skills, learn how to diagnose faults, support planned and preventative maintenance activities, and build an understanding of safe engineering practices in a complex operational environment. You'll also work closely with mentors develop your technical knowledge and successfully progress through your apprenticeship.
What you'll bring
You will have a genuine interest in developing a career in Engineering, as well as:
- Leaving Certificate (or equivalent), including Maths, English and a science-based subject, or expected achievement prior to starting.
- A genuine interest in engineering and how things work.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A commitment to safety and learning.
- The ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
- A commitment to successfully completing all college assignments, coursework and assessments on time throughout the apprenticeship.
