Are you looking to develop and expand your career in Port Agency, within a fast-paced working environment where you can make a difference each and every day?
Are you seeking a varied role, working as part of a supportive team?
Your role
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our operations team, working flexibly to meet the needs of the business. This role requires occasional out-of-hours work, which will be compensated through flexible arrangements and a shift payment allowance once training is complete.
You will play a vital part in ensuring ships and cargo are processed in line with company and regulatory requirements, handling the operational demands of booking feeder vessels in and out of UK container ports. Accuracy within both internal and external systems is essential, and you will be expected to follow established procedures while managing prolonged periods of concentration, frequent interruptions, and the need to multi-task effectively.
The position involves all aspects of office-based work, with a strong emphasis on open and transparent communication across written, spoken, and in-person channels. You will be responsible for processing cargo bookings, inputting data into computer systems, and cross-checking terminal information to keep all stakeholders informed of vessel schedules and cargo details.
Duties also include maintaining vessel files, coordinating with your team to ensure tasks are completed, and responding promptly to emails, phone calls, and messenger communications.
Building and sustaining relationships with suppliers and colleagues across office locations is key, as is ensuring all work is carried out to the highest standards. Attendance at terminals and vessels may be required so a driving licence is essential for this position. This role offers variety, responsibility, and the opportunity to contribute to the smooth running of vital shipping operations.
What you'll bring
The ideal candidate will bring experience within the shipping industry, although this is not essential, and some familiarity with Destin8 and CNS systems would be advantageous.
Strong skills in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and email communication, are required, alongside the ability to work confidently with computers.
Applicants must hold a full UK driving licence.
We are looking for someone capable of working on their own initiative, ideally with previous experience of taking responsibility outside of standard working hours, and who can demonstrate reliability, adaptability, and a proactive approach to their role.
