Operations Supervisor
Are you an experienced operations professional looking for an opportunity to lead teams in a fast-paced port environment? Are you motivated by delivering safe, efficient, and high-performing operations while developing people and driving continuous improvement? We are seeking an operations Supervisor to join our team at King George V Dock, where you will play a key role in overseeing daily port activities, supporting operational performance, and ensuring excellent service for our customers.
Your Role
As an operations Supervisor, you will play a key role in leading day-to-day port operations, ensuring activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with customer requirements. You will supervise operational teams, coordinate resources, and support the successful handling of vessel, cargo, and landside operations. Working closely with colleagues, customers, and contractors, you will help drive operational performance, maintain high safety standards, and promote continuous improvement. You will also support the development of team members through coaching, training, and performance management, while ensuring compliance with health and safety, environmental, quality, and security requirements.
Due to the nature of our 24/7 operation, flexibility is key, and overtime may be required from time to time to meet operational requirements. This is an exciting opportunity to play an important role within a fast-paced and dynamic port operation.
What you'll bring
We welcome applications from individuals with experience in port or terminal operations and the ability to lead and motivate teams in a dynamic operational environment. You'll be a strong communicator with excellent organisational skills, confidence using Microsoft Office, and the ability to drive performance, productivity, and continuous improvement. Knowledge of terminal operating systems and health, safety, environmental, quality, and security standards would be advantageous. You'll also bring a collaborative approach, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to supporting the development of colleagues and safe, efficient operations. A full UK driving licence is required, and relevant management or industry qualifications would be beneficial.
