Responsibilities

 

The Port Operative role, within the Operations Department, will work within a team to carry out operations efficiently, effectively and in a safe manner, Operating Plant, Equipment and Computer Systems.

 

Responsibilities will also include:

 

- Operate and carry out pre-checks on plant, machinery and equipment prior to commencing operations.

- Work to Peel Safe Systems of Work and Risk Assessments for all activities at all Peel locations.

- Report plant, machinery, equipment and infrastructure defects to the Maintenance department, either via the defect reporting system, radio or to a supervisor without delay.

- Demonstrate commitment to multi-skilled activity where appropriate, including assisting the Maintenance department. Undertaking training as required in order to meet business, customer and individual requirements.

- Cleaning of company machinery, work areas, infrastructure and general housekeeping.

- Complete all operational duties in an effective manner and deliver a safe personal working culture.

- Operate company computer and weighing systems.

 

 

Skills and Experience

 

- Experience of working within an Industrial / Port environment is advantageous.

- Previous experience operating Loading Shovel, FLTs, 360 Excavator or other heavy plant is advantageous.

- Understand and demonstrate commitment to safety policies and procedures.

- Ability to work at heights and within a dusty environment.

- Flexible attitude to working hours in order to meet business and customer requirements.

- A full valid UK driving licence.

- Understanding of permit to work systems and accident / incident reporting.
