The Container Controller role, within the Operations Department, will monitor all aspects of container operational productivity, including safe and efficient vessel and yard planning, and working closely with Operational Management and Operational Charge-hand’s, ensuring vessel and landside operations are conducted efficiently.


Responsibilities will also include:


- Ensure containers are booked in and out correctly and efficiently at the grid reception area.

- Ensure Cofano is updated and is reflective of real time yard status – proactive and ahead of real time operations.

- Ensure yard is planned to maximise yard density, pre-planning of empty compound and laden storage areas and real time monitoring.

- Ensure Cofano Application for operatives is real time and offer support and guidance to operatives at all times.

- Ensure inward and outward baplies are processed and checked pre and post discharge and loading.

- Ensure containers customs and local government status is correct in TOS – cross referencing with Destin8.

- Ensure containers discharged are correctly ‘landed’ in the TOS and match against correct stock UVI’s, solving anomalies prior to completing discharge.

- Ensure all customer enquiries are dealt with in a professional and timely manner.

- Ensure all container release requests are updated.

- Monitoring both Grid and Vessel Operational activity in terms of productivity and efficiency.

- Develop and maintain positive communications with internal stakeholders and external stakeholders.



Skills and Experience


- Previous experience within the port industry, specifically container terminal operations.

- Previous knowledge of Cofano, EBS and Destin8.

- Good IT skills, familiar with Excel, Work and Outlook applications.

- Excellent resource and time management, with ability to work in a fast moving operational environment.   

- Excellent customer service and communication.

- A full UK driving license is desirable.
