Vacancy - Marine Officer / Cutter Crew Deckhand

 

Are you seeking a varied role in a marine environment where you have the opportunity to support the successful delivery of a pilotage service across a busy Port?  Are you excited to develop your skills and career and receive training to become a fully qualified Coxswain?  We’re seeking a Marine Officer – Cutter Crew Deckhand to join our team at the Port of Greenock.

Your role

 

In this role you will work as part of the Marine Team to support in ensuring the safe boarding and landing of Pilots onto a range of vessels at sea.  You will liaise with Planners and Local Port Service Operators to ensure you are familiar with shipping movements and provide updates on successful completion of activities.

 

You will support with maintenance of the safe and efficient operation of the pilot cutter, undertaking routine maintenance, cleaning and painting of three cutters, highlighting any mechanical or navigational defects to ensure quick resolution.

What you'll bring

 

You will:

 

  • Have a RYA level 2 powerboat handling qualifications, ideally with experience of working in workboats/small crafts in all weather conditions
  • Be a strong team player
  • ENG1 or ML5 medically fit

Ideally, you will:

 

  • Have completed a Sea Survival Course and Basic Sea Fire Fighting Course
  • Be First Aid Qualified
  • Have a VHF Operators Certificate (with GMDSS)

You will also be flexible to work on a shift basis covering both days and nights.
