We’re recruiting for an Operations Manager to lead our team of dedicated operatives at the Port of Greenock.

Your Role

With five Chargehands reporting directly to you, you’ll be a key figure in driving safety, efficiency, and operational excellence across our site.  You lead and manage the operations team to ensure safety, compliance, and efficiency.

You will influence a culture of behavioural safety through active leadership and on-site engagement, developing and implementing safe systems of work and ensuring full compliance with health, safety and environmental standards.  You will oversee labour and shift planning for maximum cost-effectiveness and operational coverage, monitoring team performance and KPIs, providing guidance and development to support continuous improvement.

What you'll bring

You will have:

• Proven experience in an operational environment leading a team at supervisory level or above.
• Strong understanding of health & safety, including behavioural safety and safe systems of work.
• Experience managing performance through clear objectives and KPIs.
• A passion for people development – coaching, mentoring, and growing talent.
• IOSH Managing Safely qualification is desirable – training can be provided
• Demonstrated ability to drive productivity and cost-efficiency through operational improvements.
