Able Seafarer FTC
Are you looking for a unique and rewarding maritime role where no two days are the same? We are seeking an Able Seafarer to join our team at the Port of Liverpool, supporting hydrographic survey operations onboard the survey vessel Royal Charter. This is an exciting opportunity to work in one of the UK's busiest ports, playing a vital role in maintaining safe and efficient navigation while gaining experience in specialist marine and survey activities.
This role is a fixed term contract for 4 months.
Your Role
As an Able Seafarer, you will provide essential vessel and deck support onboard the survey vessel, working closely with the Master and survey team to ensure the safe, efficient and compliant operation of the vessel. Responsibilities include carrying out deck duties, line handling, assisting with the deployment and recovery of survey equipment, maintaining high standards of housekeeping, and providing operational support to hydrographic survey activities.
The role is integral to maintaining safe and effective vessel operations during periods of increased survey activity, planned absence cover, or additional operational requirements, contributing to the successful delivery of hydrographic survey programmes.
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm.
What you’ll bring
You will have previous experience as an Able Seafarer, deck rating, or in a similar role on a small commercial vessel, together with practical knowledge of deck operations, line handling, and safe working practices. A valid ENG1 or ML5 medical certificate is required, and STCW Basic Safety Training or equivalent marine safety qualifications are desirable. Experience supporting survey, workboat, or harbour vessel operations would be advantageous.
