Responsibilities

 

The Electrical Shift Engineer role, within the Containers Department, will be responsible for working alongside the engineering team to maintain ship-to-shore container cranes and fully automated cranes. To ensure that all duties undertaken are of a high standard and strive to maximise operational uptime within a constantly expanding, state of the art port.

 

Responsibilities will also include:

 

- Complete planned and reactive maintenance work and work with the latest automation drive systems.

- Liaise with operations and prioritise breakdown repairs, using fault finding diagnostic methods and equipment to ensure reactive maintenance impact is minimised.

- Ensure completion of documentation including daily logs and job reports.

- Carry out all duties with due care and attention, adhering to the Company’s Health and Safety Policy and HSE regulations.

- Report parts and material deficits to the Shift Team Leader without delay, suggesting tactical decisions to stay on schedule.

- Demonstrate commitment to multi-skilled activity where appropriate.

 

 

Skills and Experience

 

- Preferably qualified to a minimum HNC Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification, or be a time served apprentice.

- Previous experience of working with PLCs, variable speed drives and associated LV control systems.

- Demonstrate commitment to multi-skilled activity where appropriate.

- Knowledge of effective maintenance strategies i.e. RCM, PM, CBM & TPM or equivalent is preferred but not essential.

- Ability to fault find and problem solve, using relevant methods and diagnostic equipment is essential.

- A full valid Driving Licence is essential.
