Vacancy - Engineering Apprentice
Are you looking to start your engineering career through a structured apprenticeship whilst earning a salary and gaining a fully funded qualification? We’re committed to developing the next generation of engineers and investing in apprentices to help us achieve our goal of becoming the UKs leading port operator! This is a four year apprenticeship, giving you exposure to both Electrical and Mechanical engineering.
Your Role:
As an Apprentice Engineer, you will work towards an industry recognised Level 3 engineering qualification, with the opportunity to progress to Level 4/HNC. You will gain experience to become proficient in mechanical and electrical engineering, alongside welding and rigging skills.
- Year One: 20 Weeks studying at college, building your technical knowledge before applying these skills in real world situations at the Port of Liverpool
- Year Two and Three: 10 Weeks studying at college to develop on the skills you gained during year one, you will then gain further hands on experience on site
- Year Four: Working towards your HNC whilst on day release, you will have the focused on developing further technical knowledge and hands-on skills working alongside experienced engineers
You will receive mentoring and support from a dedicated team of engineers, who are passionate about ensuring we are able to work efficiently and safely, who will nurture your skills to help you grow and thrive
What you'll bring
You will be passionate about developing a career in engineering, demonstrating this through your studies or interests outside of education, alongside:
- A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 9 to 4 (or equivalent) including Maths, English and Science (or predicted to achieve this)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability work effectively in a team and independently.
- Excellent organisational skills and self-motivation to complete your academic studies alongside your job.
- It is essential that you are comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces as this will be part of both your training and your ongoing role.
You are also required to have a full driving licence within 12 months of commencing the apprenticeship or within 12 months of being eligible to drive.
