Vacancy - Group Environment, Health and Safety Advisor

We’re seeking a Group Environment, Health and Safety Advisor to join a dedicated team of professionals supporting across the Peel Ports Group.

Your role

 

Reporting to the Group Head of Safety and Environment, you will develop, maintain and implement our Environment, Health and Safety Management System, supporting all levels of the organisation to implement safe systems of work and safe behavioural practices, with a strong focus on environmental reporting systems.  You will prepare and deliver Board reports regarding EHS performance, analysing trends and developing actions plans to deliver site targets.

With 70% of your time dedicated to Environmental Safety and 30% to wider Safety, you will lead the development of environmental policy, procedures and processes for the Group and be a subject matter expert for environmental compliance and performance, dedicating time to delivering the EHS Strategy and plans and taking a lead on the environmental targets.  You will promote a successful Health and Safety culture, striving towards the company zero accident ambition, promote EHS365 behavioural safety rules and ensure the team learns from incidents.   The role will be office based and you will have the opportunity to regularly spend time on site at the Port of Liverpool, with occasional travel to other Port locations to facilitate audits.

You will also support environmental incident investigations and audits, including developing recommendations and monitoring the effectiveness of these actions.

What you'll bring

 

You will have:

  • Proven environment, health and safety experience in a large organisation with an environmental focus.
  • Strong IT skills with experience utilising a variety of systems.
  • Strong communication skills, being articulate with experience of using a variety of communication methods.
  • The ability to motivate, demonstrating energy and enthusiasm to encourage cultural change.
  • Excellent report writing skills with a keen eye for detail
  • Exposure to accident investigation, including full analysis and reporting
  • Ideally IEMA, NEBOSH General or similar qualifications.
