The Group VTS Operator role, within the Marine Operations Department, will deliver Vessel Traffic Services and Local Port Services for multiple assigned ports within the Group Port Control Centre in the Maritime Centre, Liverpool. This will be a resilience role to provide absence, training and break cover for operational desks and operational and administrative support to operational desks and Shift Managers.


Responsibilities will also include:


- Deliver VTS for assigned ports in accordance with IALA and MCA standards, port specific procedures and local legislation.

- Deliver LPS for assigned ports in accordance with MCA guidelines and Company procedures.

- Operate Radar, AIS, CCTV and VHF communication equipment as applicable.

- Provide first response support to marine related incidents and accidents.

- Work within assigned watch on a shift pattern basis.

- Provide cover on assigned operational desks for staff absences, breaks and training as directed.

- Provide operational and administrative support to operational desks and Shift Managers as directed.

- Undergo training to operate assigned port desks.


Skills and Experience


- Experience as a VTSO, LPSO, Dockmaster is beneficial but not essential, or experience in marine operations.

- Being a holder of a valid V103 qualification is beneficial but not essential, training will be provided.

- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate with a range of stakeholders, both internal and external.

- Able to prioritise tasks in a fast moving environment.
