Responsibilities

 

The Material Handling Operative role, within the Central Operations Department, will be responsible for the operation of the company’s plant and equipment in an efficient and safe manner. This is a multi-functional role, predominantly in Cargo Operations with a requirement to apply your skills across other bulk terminals dependent upon experience, training and business need.

 

Responsibilities will also include:

 

- The safe and effective operation of Peel Ports Plant and Equipment.

- Loading/unloading of wagons, trains and driving ship unloaders/cranes.

- Duties involved in Lifting Operations.

- Undertaking cleaning duties, ensuring company machinery and working areas are kept in line with Peel Ports’ H&S standards.

- Accountable for following company operations procedures and policies.

- Inspect Plant and Equipment, recording any faults, conditions or damage.

- Working in a physically demanding environment, including manual handling, working at height, and dusty environments.

 

 

Skills and Experience

 

- Previous experience working in an industrial environment.

- Previous General Cargo Operations/Bulk Operations experience.

- Experience of driving plant including payloaders, skid-steers and FLTs. Experience driving mobile harbour cranes would be advantageous.

- Strong experience of working n a vessel discharge team.

- A positive and flexible approach to working hours, including nights and weekends.

- Commitment to maintaining H&S standards, as well as demonstrating compliance to safety policies and procedures.

- A full valid Driving Licence.
