The Material Handling Operative Team Leader role, within the Bulk Operations Department, will operate the company’s plant and equipment in a safe and efficient manner whilst ensuring the team are operating safely and efficiently.  This is a multi-functional role predominantly in one area with a requirement to apply skills across other bulk terminals dependant upon experience, training, business need and demand.


Responsibilities will also include:


- Report any incidents, accidents, dangerous occurrences via SAP EHS whilst ensuring Shift Supervisor or Terminal Management are aware to enable investigations.

- Ensure that all health and safety rules and documentation are followed.

- Proactively looking for hazards, recording and actioning immediately within SAP EHS.

- Operate the company’s Bulk Material Handling Ship unloader and associated equipment as necessary.

- Ensure all checks, inspection of plant and audits and other paperwork are completed accurately and on time.

- Clean company plant and equipment, including all wheeled assets and material handling equipment within the facility.

- Demonstrate Peel Ports core values, lead by example and ensure behaviour meets expected standards.

- Liaise with engineering over fault rectification.

- Adhere to TASCC regulations.

- Liaise with various external partied such as vessel crew and agents.


Skills and Experience


- Previous experience of working within an industrial bulk handling environment, preferred but not essential.

- Clean valid driving licence.

- Strong IT skills, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

- Able to multi-task, lead teams and prioritise workload effectively whilst being adaptable to change in a fast paced environment.

- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
