Observability Engineer
Are you an experienced Observability Engineer with a passion for improving service performance, resilience and operational excellence? We are seeking a skilled professional to lead our observability capability, delivering effective monitoring, telemetry, dashboards and insights that enable proactive service management and continuous improvement across our technology services.
Your Role
As an Observability Engineer, you will design, implement and continuously improve the organisation's observability capability across infrastructure, networks, platforms and applications. You will ensure services are measurable, visible and proactively managed through effective telemetry, monitoring, alerting and reporting.
Working closely with Service Delivery and technical teams, you will embed observability best practices into both existing and new services, providing actionable insights that improve performance, resilience and availability. You will own the observability toolset, develop meaningful dashboards and alerting strategies, support incident resolution, and drive continuous improvement through data-led analysis and governance. Acting as the organisation's observability subject matter expert, you will help reduce service disruption, improve operational efficiency and support a proactive approach to service management.
What you'll bring
You will have strong technical knowledge across infrastructure, networks, and support platforms, with proven experience designing, implementing, and managing observability frameworks in complex enterprise environments. You will understand telemetry principles, including metrics, logs, and traces, and use these to deliver operational insights that improve performance, resilience, and availability. Experience across hybrid environments, including VMware, Hyper-V, on-premises infrastructure, Azure, Veeam, and dHCI platforms, will support comprehensive observability across critical services.
You will also have experience developing observability strategies, managing platforms and tools, and delivering dashboards, reporting, and actionable insights. Using data to drive continuous improvement, you will support service transitions, provide technical leadership, and enhance observability maturity across the organisation.
