Applicants are invited to apply for the above vacancy within the Port of Liverpool Police Department based at the Port of Liverpool.

 

Role Purpose: By executing the highest standards of policing and security, establish the Port of Liverpool and Manchester Ship Canal as the most secure ports in the country. To promote a modern, dynamic and forward facing Police Force, which encourages community engagement and empowers its Officers to adopt this approach.

This role will include the following responsibilities:

 

- High visibility patrols of the Port Estate, working towards achieving patrol priorities. Maintaining an acute awareness of security issues and the delivery of all International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS) requirements

- Through positive interaction with internal and external stakeholders, encourage the passage of information which might impact upon investigations and port security, ensuring all intelligence is properly reported upon

- Control traffic flow throughout the port facility to enable the smooth passage of all traffic, including rail freight. Ensure all road traffic complies with relevant legislation

- Respond to and deal with all incidents in a professional manner reporting factually the outcomes of any investigation to the police control room, supervision and the Chief Officer

- Interview and record statements from witnesses, apprehend and interview suspects to gather evidence and prepare for the prosecution of offenders and other non-crime investigations

- Undertake all lawful duties across the port estate as directed by supervision and the Chief Officer

 

Applicants interested in this role should ideally possess the following skills and experience:

 

- Able to demonstrate recent experience within an operational policing role and an enthusiasm for a fresh policing challenge

- 5 A*-C GCSE or equivalent qualifications, including Maths and English

- Demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills, ability to work within a team or using own initiative and communicate confidently with a variety of stakeholders

- Adopt a flexible approach to working hours and to handle a range of dynamic operational situations efficiently, professionally, and effectively

- IT literate, proficient in using Microsoft Packages

- Familiarity with prisoner processing requirements and legislation

- A full valid Driving Licence
