We are currently recruiting for an Engineering Team Leader to join our team at the Port of Liverpool, and help us keep the world moving!

Your Role

 

You will lead a team of Technicians working on a rolling shift pattern, managing both planned preventative and reactive maintenance across the site. You’ll ensure all maintenance activities are delivered efficiently, effectively, and in accordance with statutory compliance, safety standards, and operational objectives.

 

You’ll also manage external contractors and work closely with both engineering and operational departments to support installations, commissioning of new equipment, and continuous improvement of our systems and plant reliability. Your focus will be on maximising uptime of essential equipment and ensuring that work is completed to a high standard.


As part of your duties, you will prepare and review risk assessments and method statements, ensuring compliance with safety regulations. You will complete and oversee necessary administrative tasks to support high service standards, ensuring systems align with ISO9002 and ISO14001 requirements.

What you'll bring

 

You’ll be a time-served Technician or hold a recognised professional engineering qualification (minimum of HNC or equivalent), alongside:

 

  • A strong ability in fault finding and repair is essential, as you will be responsible for diagnosing complex issues and ensuring timely resolution to minimise operational disruption.
  • Experience in leading engineering teams and managing contractor performance in a fast-paced, operationally critical environment is essential.
  • A strong understanding of maintenance best practices, health and safety compliance, and engineering standards.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification (where applicable)
  • Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills

 

A full valid driving licence is required for this position.
