Vacancy - Delivery Operative/Material Handling Operative

 

Are you excited by the opportunity to develop you skills and work on a range of plant and machinery?  Do you want to work for one of the UKs leading Port operators? We are seeking a Delivery Operative/Material Handling Operative to join our Peel Ports Logistics team and help keep the world moving!

Your role

 

In this role you will control the deliveries of bulk  GGBS ensuring customer requirements and LAPPC Permit requirements are met.  You will operative the weighbridge and booking in of hauliers, overseeing and controlling road tanker loading process.  You will control inbound and outbound loads through the facility fates, communicating delivering to loading drivers and monitoring vessel discharge into silos.  You will carry out cleaning and monitoring duties as and when required. 

 

You will deal with customer enquiries by phone, fax and email, monitoring stock levels and reporting to the customer.  You will also calculate ETCs from hourly tonnage rates and communicate vessel progress via emails to relevant parties.  You will report any faults and defects to the Bulk Operations Supervisor and Maintenance Contractor.

What you'll bring

 

 

You will have an understanding of bulk product properties and handling methods, especially GGBS.  You will have excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate instructions and locations to haulage drivers and other customers.  Given the nature of the Delivery Operative role, you must be willing and able to work at heights and in dusty environments.

 

You will have strong computer literacy with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, you will hold GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
