Operations General Manager - Vessels and Internal Logistcs
Are you experienced in leading operational teams and ready for an opportunity where you can continue to grow your leadership skills, broaden your commercial and operational experience, and make a meaningful contribution to team performance? We are seeking a Operations General Manager to lead our Vessel Operations and Internal Logistics team at the Port of Sheerness.
Your role
In this vital leadership role, you will help the team deliver safe, customer-focused and commercially effective operations. Working as part of the Senior Leadership Team, you will support the achievement of business performance objectives across health and safety, customer service and financial performance. You will have the opportunity to influence how the team works, improve ways of operating, build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and support colleagues to develop and perform at their best.
You will help create a safe and sustainable working environment, support effective planning and operational delivery, review performance against budget and forecast, and work collaboratively with colleagues across a broad range of areas and functions. You will also play an important role in maintaining strong customer relationships, reviewing service levels and using insight and analysis to identify opportunities for improvement.
What you'll bring
You will have:
- experience of leading, coaching and developing operational teams in a busy, safety-focused environment
- experience in vessel operations, planning, logistics, or a comparable operational setting would be particularly valuable;
- the ability to work with performance information, budgets, forecasts and operational data;
- strong communication skills to clearly engage with colleagues, customers and partners at different levels;
- experience building positive working relationships, supporting change, improving productivity and delivering results through others;
- experience of managing customer or contractor relationships, service level agreements or commercial arrangements;
- an IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH General Certificate, or willingness to work towards relevant safety qualifications, would support success in this role.
