Applicants are invited to apply for the above vacancy within the Engineering Department based at the Port of Medway.


Role Purpose: To support the Business Unit Manager and Team Leaders in their objectives and be responsible for ensuring that day to day maintenance functions within the given role of the business unit, operate safely and efficiently, providing operational areas and the port estate an on-time service.


This role will include the following responsibilities:


- Provide semi-skilled maintenance support and be responsible for a 24 hour, 7 day a week service response at Peel Ports Medway and associated sites, working within a team carrying out planned and preventative maintenance work

- Work in conjunction with the skilled staff to carry out duties in relation to facilities, infrastructure and associated assets, encompassing various maintenance tasks

- Complete all types of semi-skilled labouring and environmental works

- Complete job work orders and input data on the SAP computerised maintenance systems as and when directed

- Use initiative and provide strategic recommendations to solve problems, deliver solutions and help to drive the department forward

- Work always to Peel Ports Group safe systems of work, delivering a safe working culture

- Operate plant and machinery as required


Applicants interested in this role should ideally possess the following skills and experience:


- Experience and/or demonstrated competences of Maintenance, Procurement and Stores management procedures, Water Treatment processes and systems, Utility Data Collection processes and systems

- Health & Safety, Operational & Commercial awareness

- Plant licences (FLT, Mechanical Sweeper, Backhoe Excavator, Powered Wash Systems, Trailer Towing, Snow Ploughs, Grit Blasting equipment)

- Experience and/or demonstrated competences of procurement and stores stock control

- Experience of civils, carpentry and plumbing works

- MEWP licence for working at heights

- Demonstrate initiative, drive and flexibility
